Summary: The Hotel is a Spanish Colonial–style former home of Mexican actor Mario Moreno. The facility is still exquisite and worth touring. But she is past her prime and not really well maintained. The gardens and villas are lovely and spending an afternoon on the large balcony looking out over the city and gorgeous sunsets is a more than even trade off for a dearth of modern conveniences (usb chargers, working a/c, etc). My room had a wonderful view of the city from the balcony, but the window latch was broken, which prevented me from closing the window to stop the road noise. The curtains were falling off, and without a ladder, they could not be reset. Plus, they had holes. I had a kitchenette with no utensils or pots and pans. There was NO COFFEE MAKER. Breakfast starts at 8:30am. I'm up by 5 so waiting so long for my first coffee was disappointing. Knowing all of the problems, I would still stay here. Just bring a pot and instant coffee. The cold room can be fixed by using blankets (in the summer). The window can be closed with a set of pliers; remember to bring a set. Oh, I did point these issues out to staff, and they said they would be right on them. It didn't happen.
